AgentKit is a framework-agnostic, wallet-agnostic toolkit shipped under the Coinbase Developer Platform umbrella. It plugs into LangChain, OpenAI Agents SDK, AutoGen, CrewAI, LlamaIndex, and any MCP-compatible client to let an agent hold a wallet and execute onchain actions.

2. Target Users & Pain Points

• Agent developers building autonomous workflows that need to pay APIs, settle agent-to-agent invoices, or hold/move stablecoins.
• Pain points solved: no manual key management, no per-API key provisioning, no seat-license commerce model, gasless UX on Base, drop-in MCP integration with Claude Code / Codex.
• Not solved: complex spending policy (need extra wallet middleware), non-EVM/Solana chains, fiat off-ramp inside the SDK.

3. Competitive Landscape

Market context: agent-wallet space consolidating fast — Privy → Stripe (Jun 2025), Dynamic → Fireblocks (Oct 2025), BVNK → Mastercard (Mar 2026).

4. Unique Observations

• Distribution moat: AgentKit is the default suggestion in most "give your agent a wallet" tutorials and the OpenAI Agents SDK partnership (announced 2025) made it the path-of-least-resistance for the largest agent dev population. See agent-payment-protocols.
• MCP server is the strategic move: turning AgentKit into an MCP endpoint means Claude Code / Codex / Gemini agents inherit a wallet without code changes — this is the same playbook x402 uses at the protocol layer (HTTP-native, zero-code).
• Coinbase is hedging both layers: AgentKit (closed-stack agent SDK) + x402 (open protocol) + Base (settlement chain) — they win whether the market consolidates onto one SDK or splinters across many. Mirrors the Stripe-Privy bundling thesis but more openly.
• World partnership (Mar 2026) — Sam Altman's World shipped its own "AgentKit" using x402 to bind a verified human to every agent transaction. This validates verify-not-trust as a bottleneck and locks Coinbase into the identity layer too.

• Reported volume signal: ~50M+ machine-to-machine transactions cited in earlier coverage — likely understated by 2026 given x402 adoption by Visa TAP and Stripe ACP.
